Learn about our new product Advanced Manufacturing for immersive and interactive upskilling or reskilling. It was created in collaboration with the Manufacturing Skills Institute (MSI), which focuses on increasing the manufacturing capacity of communities through an established network of partners. Our simulations have become part of their MT1 (Manufacturing Technician Level 1) program, which addresses the core industry-wide skills standards required for skilled production occupations in all sectors of manufacturing.
A Manufacturing Technician is an individual responsible for operating precision machinery, systems, and processes. They possess a range of essential skills, such as CAD proficiency, computer-controlled machine programming, precise measurement abilities, process and machine troubleshooting, problem-solving, machine maintenance, and adept use of diagnostic and statistical tools. Unlike typical "machine operators", Manufacturing Technicians have a broader understanding of multi-step processes, allowing them to successfully tackle complex problems beyond the scope of regular machine operations.
MT1, which stands for Manufacturing Technician Level 1, is a certification program designed to cater to the increasing employment needs of the manufacturing industry. The program aims to address the fundamental industry-wide skill standards required for skilled production jobs across all manufacturing sectors. The MT1 certification program formally recognizes individuals who have mastered the critical competencies essential for modern manufacturing production and related occupations. By obtaining this certification, individuals can demonstrate their proficiency and readiness to excel in the manufacturing field.
The expected outcomes of the entire program are:
The Advanced Manufacturing training simulation in collaboration with the MSI consists of two modules:
In the Simple Machines module, the user learns about simple tools that he or she may encounter in the technical workplace. Based on their operation, the learner understands the principles of the lever, pulley or gear mechanism.
In the second module, Thermodynamics & Fluid Power, the user can learn about the behaviour of liquids when their density, state of matter or temperature changes. All the laws and phenomena of physics can be understood through interactive experiments.
Both modules consist of 7 lessons and aligned assessments. All the lessons are located within a virtual manufacturing training centre.
VR simulations and 3D models have become part of the Manufacturing Skills Institute's (MSI) accredited programs, support materials and textbooks (where participants load the 3D models via QR code on any device).
